Become PADI Pro!
The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is a program designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to instruct divers as a professional diver. This course develops your diving instruction skills using PADI’s philosophies and methodologies.
2 Modules in PADI IDC
The PADI IDC consists of two parts. The first part is the Assistant Instructor Course (AI), followed by the Open Water Scuba Instructor Course (OWSI). While it is common to take these courses together, it is also possible to take them separately due to time or resource constraints.
AI Course
In the AI course, you will learn how to use the PADI educational system and materials, as well as how to instruct students. Specific topics include diving theory, business and risk management, and issues related to education and the environment.
OWSI Course
In the OWSI course, a comprehensive educational program is provided to assist in the learning and progression of students. Specific topics include how to plan and conduct courses, how to effectively teach PADI programs, and duties as a professional diving instructor
After completing the IDC, you can challenge the IE
After completing the IDC, candidates proceed to the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). This exam consists of theoretical knowledge tests, teaching ability assessments, and underwater performance evaluations, and attempts to apply what was learned in the IDC.
